What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information Verticodes collects when you use the website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It is meant to be read together with the Terms of Service.

What we collect

Account details: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile details Google shares with us. We store your password only in a protected, hashed form.

Conversion data: the booking code you submit, the source and destination bookmaker, the selections on the slip, the code we return, and whether the conversion worked, was partial, or failed. This is stored with your booking history so you can see and reuse it.

Usage events: records of actions such as requesting a conversion, hitting a daily limit, viewing the plans, copying a code, signing up or paying. These records never contain a booking code or the contents of a slip.

Shared links: when you open a slip someone shared, we record that visit against the anonymous identifier in the vc_cid cookie (or your account, if you are signed in), the link, and whether a code was requested. We do not record a follower's email, a bookmaker login, or the booking code in those events. The slip itself shows the selections that were on the code when the link was created.

Payment records: which plan you bought, the amount, the date and the status, as reported by the payment provider. Card details go to the provider, not to us.

Technical data: your IP address and browser details are used to deliver the service and to limit abuse. For our own usage records we keep only a scrambled (hashed) form of the address, not the address itself.

Cookies and similar identifiers

We use two first-party cookies, and no advertising cookies. A session cookie keeps you signed in; it lasts up to 30 days. A cookie called vc_cid holds a random anonymous identifier and lasts up to one year. It lets us count visitors, apply the daily limit for people who have not signed in, and link usage events to the same visitor. It does not contain your name, email or any slip data.

Both cookies are needed for the service to work as described, so we do not ask for separate consent. You can delete them in your browser settings, but you may be signed out and the daily limit may treat you as a new visitor.

How we use your information

To run the service: convert codes, keep your history, apply allowances, take payment and keep your account secure.

To improve it: we study which conversions succeed, which fail and why, which bookmaker pairs work best, and where visitors stop. We use this in aggregate to fix problems and decide what to build.

To protect it: to prevent abuse, overload and fraud, and to meet legal duties.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Bookmakers: to convert a code, we send the code and the selections on it to the source and destination bookmakers, in the same way you would enter them yourself. We do not send them your account details.

Service providers who process data for us: hosting and infrastructure, our payment providers (for example Paystack), email delivery, and Google when you choose Google sign-in.

Authorities, when the law requires it. If the business is ever sold or reorganised, your information may move to the new owner under the same protections.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and booking history while your account is open. Usage events are kept for as long as they are useful for measuring and improving the service. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. When you ask us to delete your account we remove or anonymise your personal information, except what we must keep by law.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. You can also ask for a copy in a usable format. Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you think we have mishandled your information.

To use any of these rights, write to support@verticodes.com. We may need to confirm it is you before we act.

Security and where data is processed

We protect your information with access controls, encrypted connections and hashed passwords, but no system is perfectly secure. Our providers may process data outside Nigeria. When they do, we expect them to protect it to a similar standard.

Children

Verticodes is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a child has used the service, tell us and we will remove the account.

Changes and contact

We will update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes, and tell account holders about significant changes.

Questions about privacy can be sent to support@verticodes.com.
